This movement from the Bach Orchestral Suite No. 3 was originally written for strings, and has been scored here for solo instruments at a grade 3 level with piano accompaniment. Composer-violinist August Wilhelmj crafted an arrangement for violin and piano in which the solo part was transposed down so as to be playable on the G string, hence the title.
