This composition is based on the Silk Road, especially in the 13th century when exploration allowed greater material, cultural and religious exchange and between the East and the West. Originally composed for 3 C Flutes and double bass, the contrabass flute works surprisingly well and adds a whole new dimension to the sound of a flute quartet.
