Description:
Etudes, Op. 53 for Solo Flute by Charles Cottignies, edited by Michael Lynn. These Etudes were dedicated to Paul Guercy de Bordeaux, who was a well-known amateur flutist. Guercy was a student of Joseph Guillou, who was the main flute professor at the Paris Conservatoire when Cottignies would have attended there. The 12 Etudes for Flute are from opus 53, likely written in the 1830s for the simple system flute of 5-8 keys which would have been typical in France at that time.
