Description:
A large, dark castle in a quiet, starry night. The ghosts descend from the towers, at first floating slowly, then turning faster and faster, and finally chasing each other across the castle courtyard in eerie, nocturnal ecstasy. This is the idea behind the composition, which was written in 2002 for the "Jugend musiziert" competition. Contemporary playing techniques are used to make the ghostly hustle and bustle audible, but the instructions are to be understood as suggestions and are intended to encourage the musicians to come up with their own ghostly goings-on.
