Description:
I. The Hero, II. Love Dream, III. Spring Dance.
'A Girl's Dream' was commissioned by the Frauenfeld Clarinet Quintet in 1987.
The first movement concerns itself with the fantasies a girl has concerning her 'Prince Charming'. If you will, her hero.
The second movement explores her romantic dreams.
The duality between her ideal image and the reality of what a physical relationship really is.
The third movement resolves these dualities in a lively folk-like dance. The main melody is heard six times but is never repeated. Like life itself, always changing, always staying the same.
