From the composer: 'This work was inspired by a set of photographs by my dear friend Breno Menini. One of the photographs captured my attention by the intensity of the feeling of loneliness and inexorability inherent in the statue and its stone world. Starting with a single note which expands itself on a melodic arc, the work develops through counterpoint on motifs and blocks related to the viewers' sensations. Like Atlas himself, each one has a world (a stone, cold world) to carry on his own.'
