Description:
Cameron Carpenter is a dazzling young organist who is acclaimed for both his tremendous technique and flashy showmanship. His newly released Telarc CD+DVD set 'Cameron Live!'features his full range: flawlessly performed standard organ repertory; his virtuosic transcriptions and reworkings of a variety of compositions by the masters of classical music; inventive improvisations; and imaginative original works.
ARIA Op. 1 is the first of Carpenter's original works for organ to be published. It is dedicated to Bradley Althoff (associate producer of Pipedreams, the weekly (US) public radio show devoted to exploring the organ through recordings of performances at new and historic organs, interviews with composers, organists and organ builders and restorers).
The composer's performance notes for this work say simply 'No registration; just dynamics and signs to observe or omit', encouraging other organists to improvise.
