Description:
There are numerous contemporary accounts attesting to the fact that Bruckner often drew on themes from his symphonies in his magnificent organ improvisations, and these improvisations are said to have sounded like symphonies on the organ. The idea of also arranging the 4th Symphony for organ recitals therefore suggested itself. The individual movements can equally be included separately in a recital programme, however, and this does not apply only to the very popular scherzo which, with its fleeting figures, its vivid tone colours and motifs and its highly Romantic harmonies, is predestined to be the virtuos. Arranged by Eberhard Klotz.
