Ieuan Rees-Davies (1894-1967) was a Welsh musician, lecturer and pedagogue, who studied at the Royal Academy of Music before becoming a school teacher and examiner. He is credited with doing much to improving thestateof musical education in schools, instituting several programmes of training for music teachers, and publishing several articles. Transposition at the Keyboard was published in 1933, and was the first ofseveralbooks he wrote on musical theory and music teaching. He also wrote several part songs; he is often best remembered for the song Close Thine Eyes, written for a Welsh Male Voice Choir.
