This was written in 1980. Dedicated to and edited by Julian Lloyd Webber, who also gave the first performance of them in Portsmouth in 1980.

A setting of the text of Thomas Traherne. The work was commissioned for the 1989 Southern Cathedrals Festival by the Dean and Chapter of Chichester.

This work for SATB Choir and Organ was commissioned by the Church of St. Matthew, Northampton, with financial assistance from East Midland Arts.
