Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin 3, Viola, Cello, Bass)
The opening to this famous overture requires a good cello section! If your cellos are not up to dividing into 5 successfully then start at the Allegro Vivace. Rossini had two viola parts in the original; the upper viola part has been given to Violin 3 in this arrangement and the lower part becomes the main Viola part, although it will still work perfectly well without any violas at all.
