4 Horns in F, 3 Trumpets in Bb, 3 Trombones, Tuba, Timpani (4), Percussion (Cymbals, Side Drum or Tenor Drum, Triangle, [3 players]))
Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Bass)
Very difficult Wagner made a bit more playable, not least by the reduction to a relatively standard-sized orchestra and its transposition down a tone. The flute parts should be played on piccolos, or an octave higher if flutes are used, for that 'ear-piercing' effect. The timpani part could be easier if played by 2 players. There are an awful lot of notes for everyone in this - be warned!
