The sequel to Castles and Dragons, The Dragon's Lair tells the tale of the knights' search for the dragon's whereabouts, using a sturdy tune and countermelody in C minor to describe their confidence and swagger. Once the dragon is spotted, the music becomes faster and more accented as the knights engage the dragon in a fierce battle. Once the dragon is vanquished, the main theme returns as the knights celebrate their victory. The piece contains plenty of percussion parts to keep your players busy, and uses a friendly key structure to facilitate student progress on accents and playing complete phrases.
