Description:
Rondo skolion is the 5th movement of Hardy Mertens' 1st symphony 'Voice of Mind' and was written in 1985. The word rondo refers to a music form in which a main theme is repeated several times with contrasting passages between each repetition. A skolion is a Greek drinking song that is often heard in the Kafenions where men drink their Ouzo and try to forget the problems of everyday life. The atmosphere reflects fun and a little bit of decadence. It refers to entertaining music. The adaptation for regular band is by Louis Martinus. Originally it was written for extended band.
