'Coppélia' is a comic ballet from 1870 originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Léon to the music of Léo Delibes, with libretto by Charles-Louis-Étienne Nuitter. The ballet and its music became very popular. Especially the 'Mazurka' from the first act is even today very well known and often played on its own.
Dutch arranger Jos Dobbelstein transcribed the short 'Prelude' followed by the 'Mazurka' for Symphonic Band.
