Description:
Gerald Ranacher is a musician, composer and - as he says himself - a passionate family person. In 1989, he graduated in clarinet and diatonic harmonica at the Carinthian Conservatory. Since then, he teaches clarinet, music theory, ensemble playing and diatonic harmonica at the Mölltal Music School. As a composer, he writes pieces for harmonica, for (traditional) ensemble and for wind band.
Gerald Ranacher's first large composition for wind band 'Marcha de Libertad' (March of Freedom) originates from a deep feeling of happiness. The title pays tribute to the fact that freedom - regardless of its form or language - is of invaluable importance. The grandioso trio part shows a feeling of pure joy that is too brilliant for words. Music begins where language ends - and so it is easier to express that unique feeling in notes rather than words. It is Gerald Ranacher's ambition to cause a feeling of freedom and joy as well as many colorful images in the minds of his audience.
