Description:
French composer Charles Gounod (1818-1893) regained great successes as a composer of operas, oratorios and masses but he was also a fine chamber-work and concerto-composer with a delicate touch and notably engaging melodic material, idiomatic to each instrument. The ‘Concertino for Flute' is a prime example of Gounod's careful crafting of line and presentation of the flute almost as a ballet. Gounod composed the ‘Concertino' for flute with accompaniment of a chamber orchestra.
