Description:
Prelude in C minor Opus 28, No. 20
Frédéric Chopin's compositions often reflect the feelings he had for his native country, Poland. His grief over the loss of Polish independence after the revolution in 1830 can clearly be heard in this sorrowful but beautiful movement from one of his piano sonatas. Frédéric Chopin died only 39 years old.
To the conductor
Play this 'prelude' in a manner to suggest the solemnity of a funeral procession. All slurs above quarters are intended to help phrasing - not to be played legato. Each note should therefore be articulated. Try to obtain utmost resonance.
This work is great for improving listening, character playing and the sound of your band.
