Kevin Volans' Turning Point was commissioned by the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival. The first performance took place on 5 July 2013, given by Demarre McGill (flute), Ferdinand Steiner (clarinet), Frank Stadler (violin), Jeff Bradetich (double bass), Luis Magalhaes (piano 1) and Nina Schumann (piano 2) as part of the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival.
