Description:
Wustin's work ' Prinoshenye' (offering) is dedicated to Gidon Kremer 'in memory of Dmitri Shostakovitch' and was premiered at the Vienna Konzerthaus in 2005. What we know of Shostakovitch - the scherzo-like, the humorous as a means to break the harsh reality - has been taken by the composer as idea for his work. 'In Shostakovitch's music, the clownish element plays an important role. I think that this is where he found his inner independence despite all outer dependence.' And this is why Wustin's music comes across in a jauntily playful, almost crazy, yet also sharp and sarcastic manner, sparkling, bubbling, tiptoeing, rumbling, rattling - and suddenly ending with a single sombre chord as if the sadness would shine through the make-up that crumbles away.
