Description:
RAIN, started out as an unaccompanied choral piece to words by Euan Tait, but I sometimes like to arrange my own music for other instruments, as is the case with this simple, but passionate song; so I have since made versions for String Orchestra (as one of Three Elegies), Saxophone Quartet, Wind Ensemble, as well as for Alto Saxophone, Cor Anglais, or Violin and Piano, and this arrangement for Brass Quintet, in dedication to Paul Goodchild, who for many years was Principal Trumpet with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and with whom I spent many an hour drinking fine wines (mostly with no labels on) while enjoying life in Australia. Paul Carr
Never a sound so beautiful:
Rainfall through the deep
Of the stillness, the darkness,
Like a refreshing caress
The skin relearns, gives back
At a time of pain. Rain,
Like an old friend, forgotten,
Returning laden with light. Euan Tait
Scored for 2 Trumpets in Bb, Horn in F, Trombone and Tuba. Score and set of parts included.
