Eric Whitacre

This Marriage

With "This Marriage," Eric Whitacre has created a deeply touching, delicate, and wonderfully resonant masterpiece. Setting a timeless love poem by the renowned Sufi poet Jalal al-Din Rumi, the composition captures its spiritual intimacy in an incomparable way. Notably, this work marks the first time Whitacre composed for a pure four-part a cappella mixed choir (SATB) without divisi. The sensitive harmonies, gentle voice leading, and poignant simplicity make this piece a profoundly moving experience for singers and audiences alike. Published as a choral score by Hal Leonard, "This Marriage" is ideally suited for weddings, festive occasions, and emotional highlights in any concert program.
