Commissioned by the Swaledale Festival for a performance by the Royal Holloway Choir and Acoustic Triangle in Richmond, North Yorkshire on 26th May 2012. Sir Thomas Brown (1605-1608) always used this, his own poem, as a 'dormitive' to lull himself to sleep. The composer is grateful to his sister, Meg Peacocke, for her help in editing the poem.
