Description:
The Water of Tyne is a traditional North Country folk song about lovers separated by the River Tyne. The flowing Piano accompaniment makes the most of the watery setting and adds poignancy to the song's yearningemotion. WilliamGillies Whittaker was a highly respected English Choral conductor, teacher and composer. He was a close friend of Gustav Holst, with whom he exchanged voluminous correspondence and as composers they both made theirown settingsof English folksongs. For Whittaker these were generally Choral arrangements, often for the many choirs he conducted.
