The up tempo opening statement, featuring 6-part counterpoint, tests the listener's limits of comprehension. After examination of the individual melodies, thematic expansion and development, not to mention wild solos, the opening theme is repeated and becomes surprisingly consonant and logical. An exercise in uncovering secrets through enhanced melodic enlightenment. The chart also requires the performers to balance and to be aware of dynamics and of their sonic surroundings.
