Description:
Straight eighth notes in the ECM style. This multi-section piece in 6/4 time features tenor saxophone over modal changes and electric guitar (solid body) or soprano saxophone over pedal point and slash harmony (with a Led Zeppelin-inspired feel!). Two themes alternate throughout the course of this work; the first features the motive of rising and falling sixths, while the other has a Pat Metheny flavor. Running time is approximately 10 minutes. Solos for tenor sax, guitar or soprano sax. Doubles: lead soprano saxophone; alto 2/flute; tenor 2/clarinet; trumpets on flugelhorn. Brass-5 trumpets, 4 trombones. Title track from the University of Northern Iowa on Sea Breeze Records.
