Description:
An aggressive, driving straight-eigths chart that features guitar and alto 1 (solos in both), and the drums toward the end. The arrangement centers around modern harmony, rich textures, and an exciting rythmic motif. Of particular interest is the bombastic trumpet soli with no rythm section, as well as the funky sax/guitar soli. 5 tpts, 5 tbns, no doubles. Trumpet high notes are mostly B & Cs with a couple of D's and E's. Commissioned by the Westlake Jazz Ensemble in Austin, Tx. and recorded on Lab 2006 by the UNT One O'clock Lab Band.
