Description:
Far From East' is based on the chords to 'Isfahan.' The feel alternates between swing and Afro-Cuban 12/8 throughout. The original sextet instrumentation is alto, tenor, trumpet, piano, bass, and drums. Auxiliary parts are included to provide flexibility with the instrumentation or to simply expand the ensemble size. From the recording: Unhinged Sextet: Clarity (OA2 22116). The alto, tenor and trumpet parts are essential. The bari and trombone are auxiliary parts. The guitar part may replace or double the tenor part.
