In this trombone duet, the theme is presented in 4/4 time, which appears to be a rather unusual measure to be chosen for this Christmas carol. The latin groove is to be played rather 'laid back' throughout the entire piece. The variations of the theme alternate between the two voices so that the lead voice and the accompaniment merge into one another.
