Description:
This Sonata begins with an Allegro ben moderato, featuring a high melody played pianissimo in triple time. The piano comes to the fore in the second movement, marked Allegro, though it has a slowermiddlesection. A short 'Recitativo-Fantasia' has both instruments really integrating and playing off each other, then fading to nothing, whereas the last movement Allegretto poco mosso is loud and declamatory, with apersistentmelody. This edition is edited by James Galway.
