Description:
French composer Édouard Lalo (1823-1892) composed the two-act ballet Namouna (based on the memoirs of Jacques Casanova) between 1881 and 1882 for a commission from Théâtre de l'Opéra in Paris, although health issues resulted in help from Charles Gounod to finish the scoring. Lalo then dedicated the ballet to Gounod. The flute solo from the Danse de Namouna (Introduction et Allegretto) in act 2 is, however, dedicated to famous flutist Paul Taffanel. This version of the Introduction et Allegretto for flute with piano accompaniment was released in 1883. Reprint edition.
