Jacob Koppel Sandler (1860-1931) wrote the song 'Eli, Eli' (generally spelled Eili, Eili) with the text by Boris Tomeshefsky, for M. Horowitz' operetta 'The Jewish King of Poland for a Night'(1896). This piece is very effective - while featuring all of the various performers in the choir, it also relates the emotional feeling of Eili, Eili in sadness and despair to the listener. Instrumentation: 3 C Flutes, 2 Alto Flutes, Bass Flute, Contrabass Flute
