Accept the Inevitable Consciously is in two movements. The first movement is entirely based on one persistent melody, which permeates all the material in this movement. We accept it as an inevitable force that underscores all that happens. The second movement is based on a choral piece of mine entitled: There is Always Music on Christmas. The title comes from a short story by Dylan Thomas. The music is full of counterpoint and the inevitable that we consciously accepted in the first movement doesn't seem so bleak now. Scored for flute quartet or flute choir with 2 C flutes, alto & bass.
