Son of noted clarinet virtuoso Heinrich Baermann, Carl Baermann (1810-1885) was a German clarinetist and composer. He developed the Baermann-Ottensteiner key system for the clarinet, which was very popular during the late 19th century, and his compositions were popular with clarinet virtuosos. This beautifully melodic solo for the intermediate player has been revised and edited by David Hite.
