As former director of the Preparatory Department of Music at Tulane University, she has an extensive background in developing teaching materials for children. James and Jane Bastien were recipients of the 1999 MTNA Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their outstanding careers in music and contributions to the music profession as pianists, authors, composers, and music educators.
