Described by Pann as 'for the muscular pianist;' Fantasy-Inventions was commissioned through the University of Rochester for Pann's former piano teacher Barry Snyder. There is a transcendental quality about the outer movements March and The Wheel; which are like grand gallop-fantasies. The middle piece; Passpied; is shorter and lighter; as an intermezzo for relief between the behemoths.
