There is an animated, toccata-like feel to the opening and closing sections of this flashy etude, interrupted by an expressive and thoughtful andante middle section. Even the fastest portions of this show piece are doable for the late intermediate level pianist, and some of the more technical features include hand crossing, dynamic and tempo contrasts, and a wide use of the keyboard, with a very dramatic ending.
