More than 30 songs and dances from Eastern Europe - ranging in difficulty from easy to medium and often playable with 48 basses - give an overview of the musical tradition of the peoples of Eastern Europe. From Russian folk music to fast-paced Balkan and Kletzmer dances, there is something for everyone. Additional playing tips and explanations of the dance forms make it easier for the musicians to perform the pieces in the correct style. The background knowledge is expanded to include cultural background information through three interviews with musicians from the Kletzmer scene.

The professionally produced CD brings all the pieces in the book to the audience, some with musical guests. A special extra: 4 pieces are arranged as duos so that the interaction with a duo partner is encouraged. A notated C and Bb part in the duo versions enables the players to use other melodic instruments (including flute, violin, trumpet, clarinet) and to bring other timbres to the pieces. Play-along tracks recorded by these duos invite the player to play the pieces at home even without a duo partner.
