Description:
The "Overtura" will be heard again for the first time in many centuries on 8.6.2025 as part of a concert by the Music Academy of the City of Kassel Louis Spohr. The editor of the edition, Jochen Faulhammer, has created the modern notation from the autograph with great meticulousness. This is kept in the University Library of Kassel, State Library and Murhard Library of the City of Kassel under the shelfmark: 2° Ms. Mus. 69, f. 1r.
Ignazio Fiorillo was born in Naples on May 11, 1715. He was a composition student of Leonardo Leo and Francesco Durante in Naples. In 1736, his first opera, the dramma per musica "Mandane", was premiered in Venice. In 1762 he went to the court of Landgrave Frederick II in Kassel as court kapellmeister. He remained there until his retirement. Fiorillo died in Fritzlar in June 1787.
