Orchestration: Flute db.Piccolo, Oboe, 2 Clarinets in A (transposed parts in Bb also included), Bassoon, 2 Horns in F, 2 Trumpets in Bb, Trombone, Timpani, Percussion (2 or 3 players: Cymbals, Side Drum, Bass Drum, Tambourine)

The overture to a comic opera written in 1932. With a cast headed by George Robey, known to audiences as 'the Prime Minister of Mirth', the comic opera in three acts, Jolly Roger or The Admiral's Daughter opened at the Opera House, Manchester on 13 February 1933. Running for over six months, it transferred to the Savoy Theatre, London on 1 March 1933 and moved from there to the Lyceum Theatre on 5th June 1933, accruing a total of 199 performances. A CD including the Overture is available on the Lyrita label SRCD289 and a CD of the whole comic opera is also available - REAM2116 .
A PACK includes a full score, string parts 4/4/3/4/2 and all wind, brass and percussion parts.
