Nusch-Nuschi (the Mumble Wumble) is one of three one-act operas with provocative librettos by the young Hindemith which caused outrage; the other two are 'Saint Susanna' and 'The murderer who brings hope to women'. In the case of 'Nusch-Nuschi', further indignation was caused by the inclusion at a suggestive point of a quotation from Wagner's 'Tristan'. In this volume of the complete works the composition is now available for purchase for the first time.
