Écrite à l'origine par le compositeur américain d'origine irlandaise Victor Herbert (1859-1924) comme pièce de caractère pour piano, YESTERTHOUGHTS portait à l'origine le sous-titre "Meditation", qui décrivait bien l'état d'esprit de la musique. YESTERTHOUGHTS est le premier mouvement d'une collection d'œuvres arrangées par Sam Dennison et orchestrées par Lynn Harrell, intitulée FIVE PIECES FOR CELLO AND ORCHESTRA.
