'Westering Home' was written by Hugh S. Roberton in the 1920s, the chorus having been noted from the singing of Donald McIsaac. It is one of the 'Songs of the Isles', a collection of Scottish Highland and Island tunes compiled by Hugh Roberton. 'Westering Home' may be sung as a solo song (or by a chorus in unison) or with the optional second part. The unison and two-part vocal copies are those available in the Roberton Publications catalogue (Unison No.72378, Two-part No.72384) and one of each copy is included in the orchestral pack. The piano part printed in the vocal copies may be used with this string orchestra accompaniment.
The 'Uist Tramping Song' is better known as 'Come along, come along' and became very popular in the 1960s sung by the Scottish tenor Kenneth McKellar (and others). The tune was written by John Bannerman and arranged by Hugh Roberton who also wrote the English words. This may be sung by a solo voice or a unison chorus. The matching vocal copy from the Roberton Publications catalogue (No.72379) is included in the orchestral pack. The piano part printed in the vocal copy may be used with this string orchestra accompaniment.
