About the author
Mary Hammond is one of the most significant figures in the musical-theatre world. She is a vocal consultant to Cameron Mackintosh Ltd, The Really Useful Group, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre and many leading West-End producers. She has coached stars on many of the world's best-known shows - Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Joseph, Billy Elliot The Musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, Mamma Mia! and We Will Rock You - worked extensively in film and television and coached a wide range of pop musicians, including Coldplay and Dido.
Mary founded the post-graduate Musical Theatre course at the Royal Academy of Music. Drawing not only on her extensive experience as a singer (ranging from opera at Covent Garden to gigs with Pink Floyd), but also her expertise in voice science and vocal techniques, the Academy course has established itself as a training ground for many leading musical-theatre stars.
