Tango suave is a dual homage to the authentic tango of Buenos Aires and to Astor Piazzolla who succeeded in giving it a universal aspect. This piece was commissioned by Brigitte Engerer and Henri Demarquette for whom it is a favourite repertoire. The version for saxophone, dedicated to and first performed by Richard Ducros, one of the finest French saxophonists, accentuates the smooth, suave character of this music that is both profound and popular.
