Description:
Bellini wrote his opera I Capuleti e I Montecchi in 1825. It handles about the traditional story of Giulietta e Romeo. The part of Romeo, the young hero, is sung by a mezzo-soprano 'en travesti', a common practice in opera at this time. In the second scene of the first act Lorenzo brings in secret Romeo to Giulietta who prepares for her marriage with Tebaldo. The lovers fly into each other's arms and Romeo entreats Giulietta to flee with him. (Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Bass and Concert Band)
