Description:
The 'polonaise' and 'ecossaise' are both dances that were very popular in France and Great Britain at the end of the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th. These compositions were mainly written for solo piano, so that couples could dance to it but the musical form was also adopted by some classical composers, including Franz Schubert, Frédéric Chopin, Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven composed his 'Polonaise' WoO21 and 'Ecossaise' WoO22 in 1810 for military band. Spanish arranger Serge Rodriguez Pena now edited these two fine short pieces for a modern Symphonic Band.
