Description:
'Messiah' (HWV 56) is an English-language oratorio composed in 1741 by George Friedrich Händel. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music. The 2nd part of the oratorio covers Christ's passion and his death, his resurrection and ascension, the first spreading of the gospel through the world, and a definitive statement of God's glory summarized in the 'Hallelujah'. German arranger Martin Baumgartner transcribed the 'Hallelujah' for a Choir and Symphonic Band. This version is transposed (C-Major).
