Without claiming to possess a 'Magic Formula' to realize this sequence, the composer fancied to imagine a Formula One race at Monza. The binary beat portrays the combustion engine. The exaggerated effects and nuances with the timpani evoke the race cars rushing past. The repeated rhythms and riffs suggest the tension and the sound atmosphere of the race, while the answers in canon form to the theme refer to the overtaking (passing) manœuvres. At the end of the race, the traditional bottle of champagne is uncorked to toast at the imaginary pilot's victory.
