Description:
The 'Concerto for Two Trumpets in C Major' by Antonio Vivaldi is one of the few solo works of the early 1700's to feature brass instruments and is among Vivaldi's best-known creations. As with the great majority of Vivaldi's concertos, this one begins with a quick and sparkling movement to catch the attention of the audience and to showcase the bright tones of the solo Trumpets. The central Largo is basically serves as a short bridge between the two outer movements; the soloists are not heard, and the strings (woodwinds) tread through a series of 'nonmelodic' repeated chords. For the final movement, Vivaldi returned to brilliant mode with quick energy and intricate passages for the soloists.
